REMOTE INSTRUCTION

As was announced by President Holloway on July 6, 2024, due to the continued danger from the Covid-19 virus, all undergraduate instruction will be carried out remotely for fall semester 2024.  Although we all hoped to be back face to face, you can rest assured that all of our faculty members are committed to providing the best education possible for this fall.  We have been planning for the possibility of remote instruction over the last months.  Almost all courses have provisional plans for conducting remote instruction, including an assessment of necessary technology for students.  Brief syllabi for fall courses including current remote instruction plans posted here.  We look forward to seeing you remotely this fall!

We're happy you're visiting and we hope you stay awhile. We're a large department, with more than sixty professors, almost as many postdoctoral fellows, roughly a hundred graduate students, and typically thirty to forty graduating majors each year. It's very likely that we do forefront research in just the area that interests you, that we teach a course at just the right level for you, that we know the answer to just the question that's been bothering you all these years. The quarks confined within protons, the gluons that hold them together, the nuclei created in stars, the materials that make life convenient, the cosmos in its earliest minutes, the universe as it exists today-these are the things that make our days exciting.
